“There is a death due to
diabetes every 10 seconds, and an amputation due to diabetes every 30 seconds.
We are dealing with the biggest epidemic in world history," Martin Silink,
International Diabetes Foundation, pushing for a U.N. resolution to make governments
encourage more active lifestyles and better diets.”

Vegetarians Live LongerNew research shows that being a vegetarian for 20 years or more adds almost four years to the average lifespan.
Dr Pramil Singh, who led the research at Loma Linda University
in California, says: “We are the first to come up with a
life-expectancy figure showing a very important increase in life
expectancy for those who follow a vegetarian diet for a long period of
time.”
